About the Old Boys Association

The first formation of the St Pius X Old Boys Association, interestingly formed in September of 1936, prior to the College opening it’s gates. It was deemed so important to provide a network for the Old Boys of the College, that a group of Old Boys from other Christian Brothers College formed the Christian Brothers Old Boys Chatswood Union (OBU). Over the years interest in the OBU peaked and waned.

The current SPX Old Boy Association (SPX OBA) was reformed in 1995 by Michael Watkins (1970), Vince Davoren (1970), Br David Curtin (1968), David Watkins (1979), Bill Gleeson (1972), Joe Gillespie (1960), Mark Byron (1970), with the primary objective to enable SPX Old Boys to stay in touch with their SPX classmates and the college.

Through various fund raising activities and donations, the SPXOBA currently provides financial assistance to SPX students in their pursuit of excellence and also provides funds to various projects throughout the college, the college community and internationally through Edmund Rice Foundation (Christian Brothers) aid initiatives

The SPX OBA supports the Christian values learnt through a Edmund Rice (EREA – Christian Brothers) education.

The SPX OBA endeavours to provide and encourage a network for Old Boys in the professional and business community with the view to also providing career mentoring for current SPX students.
