Counselling Services

St Pius X College provides for all students in years 5 through 12 access to an empathetic and dedicated team of Counsellors and Registered Psychologists under the new Commonwealth Government initiative for Mental Health entitled  “Be You,”

Our College aims to foster an environment that promotes connectedness, a sense of belonging and positive, respectful relationships throughout the College. Our College Counselling Team play an integral role in this aim.

The counselling team provides confidential support to all students through years 5 to 12 who are presenting with difficulties that are impacting their learning. Students may self-refer for counselling by attending the counselling department or emailing the counselling team. Parents may also contact the counselling team to discuss any significant concerns and see if a referral is appropriate for school counselling. Our team will endeavour to respond to all calls and enquiries in a timely manner and please note response time is often impacted by high demands on our service.

The Counselling team meet with students on an individual or group basis according to presenting needs and may provide the following services;

  • Individual counselling
  • Parenting support and family counselling
  • Mental health assessment
  • Liaison and case management
  • Referrals to external professionals and agencies
  • Incident management
