Careers Counselling
“Careers are unique to each person and are dynamic, unfolding throughout life ” (CICA).
The Careers department at St Pius X College aims to empower students to embrace and be aware of their own:
- Ability
- Strengths and Aptitudes
- Career interests
A primary goal at St Pius X College is to prepare and assist students for their future study options and career. A dedicated Careers Advisor ensures students are informed and well prepared when making decisions on their chosen career pathway.
The Careers Advisor provides students with up-to-date information on degree choices, interstate and international opportunities, scholarships, cadetships, TAFE options, trades and a wide range of other options available to school leavers.
In Year 12, students are advised to meet with the Careers Advisor, with all students strongly encouraged to schedule repeat appointments as necessary. The department also offers a lunch time Guest Presenter Program, which provides students with regular access to insightful individuals from a wide range of university and industry areas.
In Year 10, students participate in a careers profiling session. The session identifies student aptitudes and interests and offers potential career pathway investigation.
Information about careers expos, university open days and scholarships is updated on weekly basis for parents and students in the Careers News section in the College Newsletter, Woodchatta.
