Previously Supported and Donated by the SPX OBA:

Christian Brothers Foundation Overseas Aid Fund – Lay Leadership Program

The Christian Brothers are continuing to play a role, through education in the re-construction of West Africa.

The Edmund Rice Global Network is involved helping this ministry in social justice. One of the big needs is the education of local youth who are themselves committed to the work of re-construction, but have no means of paying the fees for University courses.

The program continually needs help from lay supporters from the world of the Christian Brothers in Australia and elsewhere. This funding is designed to support selected youth judged to be future ethical and just leaders in Africa, and are prepared to pay the price for this, given the first step of a first-class local education.

Br Peter Hancock was one of the pioneers of this program. He developed and coordinated international ‘immersion program’ for the Aussie Brothers and Brothers from all over the world.

The SPX OBA is supporting Br Peter in this program as we, Old Boys form SPX are providing the opportunity for another Christian Brothers Old Boy from Sierra Leone, Thomas Beah, to gain a Law degree majoring in Human Rights. If you would like more information on this program and or would like to donate please contact us at: [email protected]
