Young Archie’s

Congratulations to the two St Pius X College students who received Young Archie Honourable Mentions!
The Young Archies is a portrait competition run by the Art Gallery of NSW that accompanies the Archibald Prize every year. This year several SPX students entered artworks and we were delighted to learn that Finn McLean (Year 10) and Fergus Fung (Year 11) were selected for Honourable Mentions. Fergus entered his second portrait of Mr Anthony Timmins – a much loved teacher and Music Coordinator who passed away last year, and Finn’s watercolour artwork is a portrait of his sporting enthusiast Dad.
There were more than 3400 entries this year from which there were 70 finalists and 20 honourable mentions. That is a significant achievement for the boys. Their works will be displayed at the SH Ervin Gallery, from 6 May to 23 July 2023 alongside the Salon des Refusés Archibald Prize selection of works.
