He was a valued member of the Wellbeing Leadership Team and was much loved by students and staff alike. He was a true gentleman. Community Announcement October 18

18 October 2021

Dear parents and carers of St Pius X College

It is with deep sadness that I write to inform you of the tragic news we have received concerning a 2020 Year 12 student of St Pius X College, Liam Vinci who passed away in a car accident this morning, Monday 18 October. The accident happened on Mona Vale Rd at Terrey Hills.

Liam completed his HSC last year (2020) and was a brilliant young man who Graduated with Academic Honours First Class. He was an outstanding sportsman and represented the College with distinction in the First XI Football. In his younger years he represented the school in Cricket and Rugby. Liam received a College Blue for each of these activities. He was also a valued member of the Wellbeing Leadership Team. Liam was much loved by students and staff alike. He was a true gentleman.

This morning I spoke with Liam’s family who are heart broken, and I assured them of the support of St Pius X College and that we would assist them and the class of 2020 in whatever ways we can. Liam’s older brother Alec graduated Year 12 at the College in 2017. Liam also has two sisters Emma and Nina.

The College has provided support to our students in Year 12 who have been impacted by this news and our Counselling team are available to all students who may need assistance. I encourage any parents to contact the Counselling team if you have any concerns for your son.

In closing, I ask all members of the College community to pray for the Vinci family at this time.

May perpetual light shine on Liam. May he rest in peace.

Yours sincerely

John Couani
Principal
