Award System

Good behaviour, hard work and striving for excellence bring about positive consequences. Hence, the College has an extensive system of awards for outstanding performance and effort in both the academic and extra-curricular life of the College.

JUNIOR SCHOOL

Academic

  • Merit cards are awarded each week. When a student accumulates five yellow merit cards he is eligible for a “Blue Merit” Award, 3 at this level obtain a “Principal’s Award”. Should a student earn 3 Principal’s’s awards in one year he will receive the prestigious ‘Edmund Rice Award’.
  • There is a ‘Student of the Week Award’ presented during term time.
  • There are half yearly and yearly academic awards for excellence in the different subject areas. There are three levels of awards on offer:-
    ‘Fide et Labore’ Blue Award - for consistent effort and improvement
    ‘Fide et Labore’ Silver Award - for excellence and effort
    ‘Fide et Labore’ Gold Award - for excellence
  • There is the Peter Bernard Wilson Award presented to a Year 6 student for exemplary Christian attitude.

SENIOR SCHOOL

Academic

  • The merit card and Fide et Labore awards system as described in the Junior School section above, operates along similar lines in the Senior Secondary years.
  • In Years 7-12 academic awards known locally as Fides are presented each Semester to those students in a subject- Gold for 1st place, Silver for top 5% and Blue for “Most Improved”. “Good Start “ certificates and other accolades are also part of the positive reinforcement .At the Year 12 Graduation Ceremony at the end of each year the College presents Academic Excellence, Academic Honours and Academic Honours First Class to the outstanding students in that cohort. So too for Yr 11.

Sporting

There is a system of COLOUR AWARDS- Gold,Silver and Blue for sporting and extra-curricular activities. Details may be found in the Student Diary.
