College Board

In 1996, the Congregation of Christian Brothers established a school board at the College as part of the collaborative governance of the College. During the intervening years, the Board has developed into what it is today; this on-going growth has been beneficial to both the Board and the College.

In October 2007, governance transitioned from the Christian Brothers’ St Mary’s Provincial Leadership Team at Balmain to Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA). The EREA organisation with 38 colleges commenced its operation as a significant contributor to education in Australia, with over 40,000 boys enrolled in EREA Colleges. That is 20% of boys in catholic secondary schools being educated in the Edmund Rice tradition.

St Pius X College Board plays a pivotal role in the governance of the College, ensuring the fundamental aim of College which is to provide high quality Catholic education in the tradition of Edmund Rice whilst promoting the spiritual, academic, social, cultural and physical potential of its students.

The Board consists of twelve members. After a nomination/selection process has taken place, the Executive Director of EREA appoints members for a term of three years. Upon completion of their term of office, members are eligible for re-appointment. Normally, no appointed member will serve more than three consecutive terms.

The Board meets on a regular basis in the College Board Room. The various Board Committees also meet regularly.

Matters concerning the College that come before the Board for its consideration include finance & risk, infrastructure & property, and strategic planning for the College. There is a spiritual and religious dimension to the role of the Board as it works to support the values and achieve the objectives set out in the Charter for Edmund Rice Education in Australia.
